KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia is offering its streamyx GradPack package, which targets college and university students, until Dec 31.

Subscribers will enjoy broadband service at a lower rate, as well as receive some free goodies, according to the telecommunications giant.

GradPack offers two Internet service packages � 384Kbps (kilobits per second) for RM50 a month or 1Mbps (megabit per second) for RM100 monthly.

The students who subscribe will get a free modem, and a streamyx Zone ID which grants them wireless access at more than 1,300 hotspots nationwide.

TM is also waiving its RM75 activation and RM88 installation fees for GradPack users.

Also, subscribers of the 1Mbps package will get access to music portal Hypptunes, video service HyppTV and the Rose Online Evolution massively multiplayer online role-playing game for three months.

In addition to that, they will get a TM�Manchester United special-edition T-shirt for free.

Students who want to subscribe to GradPack must present their student ID at any TMpoint, TMpoint Authorised Dealership (TAD) outlet, or TM authorised reseller nationwide.

When you first hear the term internet addiction, you may smile and think this new term is a joke. Okay, so maybe people do waste a lot of time on the internet. But how can that be such a bad thing?

This addiction can lead to time away from family and friends. It can even led to time that should be spent at work.

Internet addiction can be further explained into subcategories, too. One may not just be addicted to the internet. One can get addicted to certain activities that perform while on the internet such as: online auctions, online chat rooms, online surfing, online gaming, and this addiction can even led to more serious online problems such as online gambling and online cybersex.

How do you know if you have a problem? You should start by looking at your internet habits. Then ask yourself such questions as: How often are you online? Does being online ever interfere with your work or home duties and if so how often does it? How often do you check your email? Do people in your home complain about how often you are online? Do you continue to search out new online friends? When you are not online do you anticipate when you can go back online? Do you get annoyed when someone interrupts you while you are online? Do you loose sleep because you are online late at night? Do you ever hide the length of time you were online?

The answer to the above questions can indicate that you have a problem. If you think you do, what should you do? Like with any other health problem, you may want to consider counseling. If you can't afford counseling, you may want to check out some websites that offers some help.

It may seem strange that there are websites that help with online addiction. Yet, if you think about it online websites may be the best place for online addiction sufferer to seek help. Parents should also monitor their children to make sure that they are not becoming addicted to the internet. Some children, especially teenagers, have problems building friendships and relationships. You don't want your child's only friendships to be on the internet.

The internet and your online friends should not take the place of real life and real life people. If you remember that one sentence, you will continue to enjoy the internet in a healthy way.

This time we have a mobile phone with a touch screen, which is interestingly based on widgets. The Samsung F480 Tocco is a step towards easy handling, since the previous smart phones from Samsung were a bit tricky to handle. In Samsung F480 Tocco we find the usual set of menu icons, and a small tap on one virtual button brings in the widgets on to the screen. As usual, you could drag one of those options on to the main screen and get the application running for you. Tax
There is nothing worse than the bite of the Tax Man as I was once told! When they dig their teeth and claws into your personal life, they are hard to shake off.
But what attracts the Tax man in the first place?
If there are a series of dead ends, discrepancies in paperwork or 'odd figures' on file - all these gain the attention of the revenues investigative arm to start off with!

The obvious course of action would be to amend bad business practice and make it good.
Nobody said that a sole trading DJ needed to be a great accountant! There are simple steps that can be followed in business practice that can help even the most fretful or nervous individual when it comes to dealing with money or figures.

In fact, if you have a business bank account, you can set up an account that offsets money into another account which actually gives a little interest!
This money can be used to pay off any Tax that you may owe at the end of the year, and is worth discussing with your bank adviser or manager at the earliest opportunity.

So by example, if you deposit 100 into the account which are earnings from the disco service, a percentage can be offset into the other account.
This account may be referred to a 'Business Call Account'.

The figure you offset can be arranged to be a fixed amount or a percentage. Ideally, you will need to discuss this in finer detail with the bank adviser who will work with you to determine an agreeable figure based on the level of income into your account, outgoings via Direct Debits, etc.

Something else worth considering about Tax is when you are required to sign paperwork by the paying venue or corporate client who then have to submit the paperwork to their accounts and 'perusal' by the Tax man!

If their accounts are 'odd' or attract attention, you'll be flagged up in the system at some point so it's best to keep records over and above the legal requirement in case of an indiscretion that is investigated.

Of course, this does not mean to say that you have done anything wrong, but in case the paperwork investigated states that you earned 1,000 a night when in fact it was only 100 a night, you'll need to prove that the figures you know are on record - your paperwork!

Competition
Competition is good for any line of business but in the DJ profession, it can be very cut-throat!
From as far back as the early 1990's, there have been reports of DJs being reported to the Tax man for avoidance of paying their way - by jealous or upset DJ competition!
Although not a very good idea to discuss your turnover and financial standing openly, there are those that have not learned the art of professional discretion or what amounts to having a good business sense!

This 'old flame' of 'grassing' on other DJs has been rekindled when the music licensing companies encouraged DJs to report on other DJs who were thought to be using illegal copies of music in their commercial operation as a business.

Openly inviting DJs to report on others to a contact telephone number or email address, it would seem that there is no end to the flame fanning by the licensing companies who are most certainly seeking to exploit their new found resource!

Good advice would be to not brag about your business! Healthy competition is indeed good for any business and Aztec Adsl Modem be one of the factors that drives you to develop and manage your mobile DJ service.

Music Piracy
It's not just avoiding to pay Tax that attracts attention. Music Piracy is not doing the industry any good, therefore measures have been taken to crack down on those who choose to exploit the artistes, singers, composers, song writers and musicians by not buying music, who instead pirate music.

Sadly, whilst the majority of professional DJ services in the UK would choose to use good sound quality recordings of music, there are many professed 'professionals' using low quality mass produced pirated material.

The attention of the music licensing companies to the mobile DJ has been generated by despicable operators who have boasted on the quantities of music tracks they hold on hard drive library's, referring immodestly to possessions or achievements which has only cost them time to acquire in vast numbers, instead of financial investment.

There is no positive argument for what is basically stealing other peoples work for financial gain, however, there is an argument if the owner of originally purchased music chooses to utilise mp3 digital technology for convenience of media playback, when the original source may have been a different media format.

The music licensing companies have introduced a license for those who wish to convert their tracks from one media format to another (ProDub Licence) however, this is levied on quantities of tracks as opposed to the actual tracks copied, and therefore calls into question if the license is nothing more than a money generating exercise than an actual reward for the composer and artiste of the track/s 'format shifted'.

There are thousands and thousands of mobile DJs in the UK yet only a handful have purchased the license, many through fear of losing work at venues in case they are turned away.

The bottom line, if you legally download music from a UK source (if you require mp3 format) then you do not need the license. If you buy music CDs from the shops or online via UK sources, you do not need the license.

Currently, under UK law, you are required to purchase the ProDub license if you format shift your music. Your details will be kept on the music licensing companies database, and you sign consent for a home visit / inspection of your computer equipment at your home.

Photo ID Cards
The mobile DJ sector of the music industry, business practice and fair competition is not regulated. Various avenues have been exploited over the years and since the internet revolution and technology has allowed further exploitation, traditional ideas have been adapted and introduced by the DJ Associates Association so that's members all have photo ID cards which help fight fraudulent use of Public Liability Insurance.

The cards also have the Public Liability details and will soon include further information such as Portable Appliance Test expiry and registrations to third party organisations, including those that require ProDub.

As a side note, an agency based in Kent in the mid 1990's was taken to court by several music companies for 'copying' music. The owner operator (DJ) nearly lost his house with the level of fines imposed, so please do consider carefully when you choose paths to follow. Oh, and he was reported on by a fellow DJ.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. In my opinion, operating legally is the best option as the fines imposed on someone caught avoiding Tax or using pirated music is not a good option at all!

Before I get in to Xbox repair I have to start off by saying I absolutely Telekom Streamyx my Xbox and wouldn't be without it for a minute. As a gaming platform I think it is second to none. Yes I think its better than the ps3 but thats just my opinion and I know the ps3 is also a great machine.

Now to the purpose of this article. Xbox repair. If you have an Xbox or a friend of yours has an Xbox, no doubt you will already be aware of the many problems these machines are having. It seems as many as one in three Xbox games consoles will suffer some kind of hardware problem during its life. Now that's a hell of a lot of Xbox's that will require some kind of repair. Which seems like a bit of an embarrassment to Microsoft.

OK so why are all these problems happening, and what are the problems? Well it would appear the main cause of all the Xbox's problems is heat related. You may have been in this situation yourself, after a heavy gaming session of over 4 hours your Xbox freezes. You try the old trick of a reboot (switching it off and then on again). Then you get the now infamous 'Red Ring Of Death'. This for those who don't know is where the once green lights on the front of the console are replaced by flashing red lights, the red lights can be flashing in either one or three of the four light sections. That my friend is game over and time for Xbox repair.

So its overheating causing the problems. Basically the console is getting that hot inside that some of the soldered contacts are breaking down. Now this can happen slowly over time or can occur after one long gaming session but the results are the same. No streamyx no gaming for you until your xbox is repaired.

So what do you do if you have this problem. First thing is not to panic, it can be fixed. So that's the good news and now the bad. If your out of warranty its going to cost you about $150. Ouch. Now for some the money isn't the worst part. How about the fact that your going to be with out your Xbox for up to three months. Three years no gaming, imagine that.

My Xbox is in warranty I here you cry, well your in luck (well you are if you have the original purchase receipt in your name). There's more chance of a warranty repair now Microsoft have extended the warranty period to Three months now. But you have to meet a few of their strict warranty rules to qualify for a free Xbox repair. First of it obviously has to be within the agreed warranty period (3 years). You have to have the original receipt in your name. Also the warranty only covers hardware faults that cause the red ring lights.

The major problem with getting Microsoft to repair your xbox apart from the cost (if out of warranty) is the time it takes. As I said earlier this can be up to 3 months. This is mainly due to the amount of xbox repairs being carried out.

There is another solution to your problem, it may seem at little Dsl Digital Subscriber Line at first but believe me its a piece of cake. repair your xbox yourself. but wait I don't know the first thing about xbox repair. Not a problem an xbox can easily be repaired of all these faults using only a few easily accessible tools and a repair guide.
